SILVER TONED METAL DRAGON AND SILVER TONED METAL EXCALIBER SWORD POINT Dragons are the traditional guardians of buried treasure. It was also an ancient symbol of the seasons. In alchemy, they represented the elements. To the Chinese they represented, “The Way,” bringing eternal changes. To the Welsh it represented the Old Welsh god, “Dewi.” To the ancient Persians there was dragon god, Arimanius or Ahriman, who was the dark twin brother of the supreme god of light, Ahura–Mazda or Ormuzd. As punishment he was sent down to the underworld to rule over demons. The early Christians morphed him into a symbol for the devil, “Old Harry.” The dragon is a symbol of cosmic power, worldly power, evil or wisdom. It also symbolized the element of Earth. When the hero killed the dragon, it symbolized the victory of the spiritual nature over the material nature. SWORD To the Norse, the sword was a phallic symbol signifying the virility of its owner. To the Scythians, swords were worshiped as gods. Many swords were buried with their owners or flung into water or went to sea with the owner in a boat funeral. If broken, it signaled the death of a king or the loss of authority. Swords of heroes and sacred kings usually came out of a stone, a tree, or water, having been made by magical beings. Upon the hero's death, the sword returned to its origin. |

GOLD TONED METAL AFRICAN LEAF MOTIF TOP AND GOLD TONED METAL AFRICAN LEAF MOTIF POINT Leaves were used as a form of communication in the old days. Each type of leaf represented a different letter of the alphabet, so when they were strung on a string in a specific order they could spell out words and sentences. A string of these “message leaves” was strung up between trees or bushes to leave a message to those who passed by who could read them. Later these “message leaves” became known as leaves or pages of a book. |

GOLD TONED METAL CRESENT MOON AND METAL POINT The crescent shape represents the moon, the prime symbol of the Mother goddess. Ancient societies used lunar timing for planting, sowing, reaping, and weeding. Gardeners still refer to the Old Farmers Almanac for their gardens, and the lunar rules can be applied to many aspects of life in general, such as weddings, animal management and magical operations. The moon's timing of 28 days was compared to women's cycles, and the three phases of a woman's life; maiden, mother, crone. Primitive societies were usually matriarchal, and the primary deity was usually female, and their worship was usually lunar. Early Christian European women baked crescent shaped lunar cakes as offerings to the moon goddess. The French changed the name of these cakes from “crescents” to “croissants.” In the Elysian Mysteries, the moon represented the alter man. In the Druidic Mysteries, the moon was symbolized by a boat, which floating upon the waters of eternity, preserved the seeds of living creatures within its crescent like boat. |
